Synopsis Final Draft

Bob (year 7) walks past the SLC classroom where paired reading is going on. He stops briefly and looks into the room. He moves as if to walk into the room, then stops. He takes a deep breath and walks inside. Mrs Brown shows him to the seat next to Grace (sixth form) and he sits down. He says nothing. Grace smiles and says how she used to be bad at reading but got better with help from teachers. Grace opens the book on the table and Bob starts reading.

After the paired reading, Bob walks out of the classroom and a group of year 10s, 3 boys, see him and make fun of him. He is about to lash out when Grace comes out and tells the bullies to go to lesson. She smiles at Bob and then carries on walking.

Bob walks down a corridor. The bullies follow him and call him names and make fun of him. He tries to ignore them, but they start shoving him. He eventually shouts and hits them.
Grace walks down the corridor and sees the fight. Bob sees her and looks ashamed.

Bob is lying on the grass outside school when Grace comes past. They talk for a bit. Grace says that she was doing work and Bob says that he had detention, then Grace lies down next to him. They talk again and Bob reveals his interest in astronomy.

Bob is sitting in the SLC holding a small book. Grace walks in and sits next to him. She gets a book about astronomy out of her bag and they read that instead of the book Bob has.

Bob and Grace walk out of the classroom. The bullies see them and call Bob names. Bob ignores them and Grace tells them to go to their lesson. Bob walks down the stairs and Grace carries on down the corridor.

Bob walks into the library, the bullies start calling him names again, but Bob completely ignores them. He sits down and starts reading the astronomy book that Grace gave him.
